A little about me…

Hey There! I'm Abby. Some people started calling me "Little Miss Martha" a few years back and this blog followed. I started it to share my DIY wedding progress, but it's now evolved to include other good things. Read More…

Happy Birthday Olive!!! 1️⃣0️⃣🎉
Kind of crazy to believe you are ten! 💕 Double digits—how did we get here so fast?!

Life with you comes with singing in the car, telling me not to sing, dancing, musicals, taking videos, naps and plenty of shower karaoke! Whether you’re putting on a show or enjoying some iPad time with pickles on the side, it’s so fun to watch you grow. Those beautiful dimples and that smile get us every time. Keep singing, keep dancing, and keep being you. We love you to the moon & back 🌙.
Happy birthday Olls! 🎂✨

Tabletop Tuesday is back at Goodwill and I have exactly ZERO plans when I walk into this aisle. 😂🍽️

The rules? There are no rules.

Find a plate. Add another. Spot a tiny floral cup that has no business being that cute. 🌸 Keep stacking until my brain says, YES. THAT’S IT.

Nothing matches. Nothing came as a set. And somehow… that’s my favorite part.

Now YOU get to be the judge. 👀

Would you sit down at this place setting — YES or NO?
And what would you have added/swapped?!

👇 Tell me in the comments, because I’m already planning next Tuesday’s Goodwill trip.

Follow for more Tabletop Tuesdays — apparently wandering the china aisle and making imaginary tables is a thing we do now. 😂🖤

I’m not saying I have a Halloween decor problem…

I’m just saying it took 12 bins to prove I don’t. 🎃😂

Please tell me I’m not alone.

HOW MANY Halloween bins are you pulling out of storage this year?! 👇

🎃 1–3: Casual participant
👻 4–6: You’re committed
🕷️ 7–10: Halloween is a lifestyle
💀 11+: GET IN HERE. We need to talk. 😂

Drop your number below — NO LYING. 👀

And follow along because apparently I have 12 bins worth of decorating to do. 🫠🎃

Anyone else’s brain currently have 47 tabs open and at least 12 of them are playing music?? 😂

Because HOW are we supposed to do fall break, Halloween, birthdays, gifts, Thanksgiving-ish things, Christmas, work, parenting AND remember why we walked into the kitchen?!

And you KNOW I forgot something. I just haven’t remembered what I forgot yet. 🫠

So let’s hear it — what’s currently taking up the most space in YOUR brain? 👇

Bonus points if this post just reminded you of something you forgot. 😂

Follow along. We can collectively lose our minds through the holidays together. 🖤

Okay but THIS is why I can’t just casually walk through the dish aisle at Goodwill. 👀🌸

None of these pieces came together.
None of them technically “match.”
And somehow… they were MEANT for each other at least for this moment. 😍

This is your reminder to stop looking for the whole set and start looking for the pieces that make you stop and say, “WAIT… what if I put THIS with THAT?”

Now I need to know:

🌸 Would you have put these together?
🤍 What would you add?
👀 And most importantly… WOULD YOU HAVE BOUGHT THE WHOLE STACK?!

Because I’m starting to think we need to make Pick a Place Setting at Goodwill a series. 😂

If you want Part 2, tell me below — and follow along because apparently I have a new reason to keep going to Goodwill. 🫣

All the way back to Thursday…
It was a long short weekend…
Homecoming parades ☘️… Shamrock Shuffling ☘️… Couch Naps 😴… Homecoming Dance 🪩 …Working Sesh in the dining room ✏️… And Halloween makes an appearance 👻! Any guesses on theme?! This is a really really bad clue!

Long but short as always… And Happy 21st of Septembah!
How was your weekend?! What did you do?!

When you realize you never shared the actual reveal! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ This is my life! But…. After the long wait because I know you were all being so patient and couldn’t wait to see it 🤪 Here she is… the whole Practical Magic-inspired table. 🍂🔮✨

Nothing matches perfectly. Nothing is styled within an inch of its life. It’s a mix of old books, vintage glassware, gathered flowers, candles, little treasures and things I already had — and somehow, together, it all just works.

I think that’s what I love most about a table like this. It doesn’t have to be perfect to feel special. Sometimes it’s the mismatched, slightly undone, collected-over-time pieces that give it the most personality… and maybe a little magic. 🕯️🌿

I’d love to know — which detail would have a place at your own Practical Magic table? 🍷📚🌸

Yesterday was the first time one of my girls came

Yesterday was the first time one of my girls came home and asked me where I was when the towers were struck. Is it crazy to say this made me happy?! Happy that they are talking about such a sad historical event? I’m so glad they are learning about that day. They need to. We shouldn’t ever forget it, but most things get lost over time. So I’m grateful they are talking about it.

I was in Latin class my senior year. A teacher came in and told our teacher to turn on the TV. On that day, all our worlds were changed forever. We lived in a world before 9/11 and then now after.

So today we remember. We share stories of that day, where we were…stories of who we lost… and how we felt. There’s always still a pit in my stomach on this day every year, but no matter the years that may pass, we have to remember… And remember a time when we all came together as one during such an unimaginable tragedy, even though today coming together in that way itself feels unimaginable.

Let’s shop my house and make a tablescape! I’ve been himming and hawing over whether or not to do a Practical Magic Inspired Tablescape and the soundtrack pushed me into it! Here’s a few things I found in my basement that will help it all come together!

Make sure to come back for part 2 to see how it all came together!

Taking down the back-to-school porch… because apparently it’s time to admit summer is basically over. 🥲🍂

And yes, I am VERY aware that I’m not dressed cute for this. 😂 But honestly… this is real life. Sometimes you decorate the porch in an outfit worthy of a cute reel, and sometimes you’re just out there getting it DONE. 👏🏼

Now that the back-to-school porch is coming down… what should I do next?! 👀

🎃 Fall porch?
🍂 Something cozy + neutral?
✨ A completely different look?
🤷🏼‍♀️ Or do you have an idea I haven’t thought of?

Drop your ideas in the comments because I need your help deciding what’s next! ⬇️

Some of my favorite tables start with a trip down

Some of my favorite tables start with a trip down to the basement. 🤎

I didn’t buy a single new thing for this tabletop—all of it came from my shelves and was waiting to be used. The inspiration came from a little corner of Mackinac Island and a visit to Watercolor Cafe, and I wanted to bring that feeling home.

And then there’s the fudge… a little nod to the island, with a tiny “16” tucked into it for our anniversary. 🥹

I love when a table can hold memories without looking like it’s trying too hard.

Now I’m curious: are you a “shop for the table” person or a “shop your house first” person? Tell me which one you are! 👇

I still cant believe that I have a high schooler?! I mean, does anyone else feel like it was just 2012 and you were bringing your first baby home from the hospital and thinking they just are letting us take this little human home with us?!?! Seriously where does the time go?!

But all in all got good reviews of the first day back and the only thing I forgot to do was fill the lunch cards! 🤦‍♀️

Does this mean everyone is back in school here in the Midwest?! Are you back in school yet?!?

The kids may be starting school a little later this year… but that didn’t stop me from going ALL in on the back-to-school porch! 📚✏️🎒

Come with me as I transform our front porch for the new school year—and stay until the end to see the finished look! 👀

I’m sharing the setup, a few of the things I made myself, and where I found some of the others - my home! I love mixing in DIY projects with things I can easily grab to create a look that feels fun and personal without having to buy everything new.

And yes… this one is a little longer than my usual Reels, but I promise the before + after is worth it! 😉

Tell me what you think of the finished porch in the comments! And if you’re getting your home ready for back to school too, save this Reel for inspiration and send it to a friend who loves a good seasonal setup! 📚✨

Most of the kids around here are already in school

Most of the kids around here are already in school, but we still have a few more days before the kids go back. The last couple years I have been trying to do a little something fun on the porch for back to school and this year is no different! But first, we needed some giant pencils!

To make these, I stole the middle rolls of a couple old wrapping papers we have laying around, grabbed some tin foil and pink foam (also had on hand), a yellow and black paint (also had on hand), and a pencil tip template!

What do you think?! Also could you send an Etsy witch to stop the rain so my porch won’t be ruined once it’s done?! Hopefully revealing tomorrow! 🤞🏻

Ok, see my new artwork? Now look a little lower. Yep — that’s real life happening right in front of it. A kiddo’s bank, mail all over the place, dog collars, poop bags, squishees and more… the everyday mess of a family actually living here.

Here’s the thing I keep coming back to: “It feels so good to be home” isn’t about perfect surfaces. It’s about the people walking through the door. The art on the wall sets the tone — the mess underneath means it’s working. 🖤

A styled home and a lived-in home can be the same home. That’s the magic.

So tell me I’m not alone — what’s the one spot in your house that’s never actually clean? Drop it below. 👇 And if you needed permission to love your imperfect home today, share this with a friend who needs it too.

See you at the table.
xoxo,
Abby

I told you consistency is my problem! Would be believe me if I said I make some sort of content every single day but somehow I only make it on here 1-2x a week?!

Anyways, yesterday was my husbands birthday and for whatever reason he’s had an obsession with hot dogs this summer! “Let’s have hot dogs for dinner,” he’ll say or “Grab some hot dogs at the store” or “Don’t you guys want hot dogs tonight!?” So it’s kind of been a running joke with myself and the girls that we’d do a hot dog themed birthday hurrah for him!

Here’s our just a quickly thrown together “A Weenie Bit Older” decor for him. I think it turned out super cute! And was pretty easy! While I do encourage shopping small business when you can, I can’t ever get my sh** together fast enough to plan something like that, so I tried the viral Walgreens banner and wow! It turned out just great! Designed on Canva and printed at Walgreens!

Can we talk about how some summers just have a vibe?! Some summers you remember. That time we went to Mackinac moved in and never left.

Mackinac Island, I’m still thinking about you. Your pace was my jam. No cars, just bikes and carriages and the clop of hooves on Main Street. Lilacs on every breeze. Fudge you can smell before you see it. And slow mornings {and evenings} made for lingering — coffee on the porch, nowhere to be, no one rushing you off.

That’s the thing about this place: it hands you permission to exhale. If you’re dreaming up summer plans, let this be your sign. It belongs at the very top of the list. 🌷

Been before, or is it on your list? Tell me below — I love a good summer recommendation. ☀️

And remember to exhale when gathering or planning too. It’s a good thing.

Everyone thought I spent all afternoon on this tab

Everyone thought I spent all afternoon on this table. It took ten minutes. ☀️

The secret: I ‘shop my house’ first. Everyday plates, a couple of linen napkins, a jar of whatever’s blooming, and a candle to tie
it together. No florist, no special order, no stress.

A pretty table isn’t about money or time - it’s about a few intentional layers. Save this for your next gather.

Comment SHOP and I’ll send you the sources for everything on this table. 🤍
